What Is Allomedo?

5,100 Manufacturers Registered in China

Allomedo is the index of China’s medical device manufacturing, read from what the manufacturers themselves disclose in their registration filings: the 5,100 companies registered there and every device type each is registered for. Who the index is for, and how it is built, is on the About page.

Registration Is Not Listing

5,100 Registered · 1,171 Named on a Box

A factory registers its establishment for the product codes it is equipped to make. A listing is filed separately, by whoever puts the device on the market under their own name — and for most of what China builds, that is the importer, not the factory. Of the 5,100 manufacturers registered in China, only 1,171 file a listing of their own. The other 3,929 are invisible on the box and findable only here.

That is what this index is for: 340,248 device records and 52,769 companies, cross-referenced so that a device leads to the factories registered to make it, and a factory leads to everything else it makes.

Which Groups China Supplies

Ranked by Chinese Manufacturers, Not by Record Count

The classification sorts every device into one of seventeen broad groups, each split into narrower sections. The 16 below are the ones China supplies, ranked by how many Chinese manufacturers are registered in each — the largest group by record count is rarely the one China actually supplies.
