The 2,500 mL Besmed incentive spirometer is a breathing exercise device for patients who need inspiratory exercise. It provides visual feedback during deep inhalation and is intended for repeated use by one patient in hospital or home care.
The patient breathes in through a mouthpiece and flexible tube connected to the unit. The resulting pressure change raises a piston and ball in the chamber. The piston indicates inspired volume, while the ball helps the patient judge the inspiratory flow rate.
Use and Cleaning
The device is supplied nonsterile and is disposable after use by the assigned patient. Its removable mouthpiece may be cleaned as needed; the main unit is not intended to be cleaned.
