The 5000 ml incentive spirometer is a prescription device for inspiratory deep-breathing exercise in a hospital or home care setting. It provides visual feedback while the patient inhales through a mouthpiece and flexible tube connected to the device’s inspiration port.
Inhalation creates a vacuum that lifts a piston and a ball within the chamber. The piston indicates inspired volume, while the ball provides a visual guide to inspiratory flow. The patient uses these moving indicators during repeated breathing exercises.
Cleaning and Use
The device is supplied nonsterile for repeated use by a single patient. The mouthpiece can be removed and cleaned as needed; the main device is not intended to be cleaned.
