The PathBuilder Steerable Introducer provides a route for cardiovascular catheters into the heart, including access to the left side through the interatrial septum. It comprises a steerable sheath, dilator and guidewire, with the sheath and dilator advanced over the guidewire.
A rotating collar on the handle bends the sheath tip in two directions. The dilator supports sheath advancement, while a radiopaque distal marker helps show the sheath position under fluoroscopy. Length, size and curve configurations vary within the family.
Valve and Sideport
A proximal hemostasis valve limits blood loss during catheter introduction or exchange. A sideport with a three way stopcock supports aspiration of air or blood, fluid infusion, blood sampling and pressure monitoring. Distal vent holes assist aspiration.
