Emit II Plus Cocaine Metabolite Assay tests human urine for benzoylecgonine, a cocaine metabolite. It provides qualitative and semiquantitative results on compatible chemistry analysers using cutoffs of 150 or 300 nanograms per millilitre. The result is preliminary and requires a more specific chemical method for confirmation.
Benzoylecgonine in the sample competes with enzyme-labelled benzoylecgonine for antibody binding sites. Antibody binding reduces enzyme activity. The analyser measures the resulting change in light absorbance to determine the sample’s response.

Two-Reagent Assay
The assay uses two ready-to-use liquid reagents: an antibody and substrate reagent, and an enzyme reagent. Active glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase converts NAD to NADH, producing an absorbance change measured at 340 nanometres.
