Fusion Bond 5 is a dental adhesive for joining restorative materials to tooth structure. It is used for direct composite or compomer restorations, adhesive cementation and composite repair. The formulation combines priming and bonding in a single component.
Before the adhesive is applied, the tooth surface is conditioned with 37 percent phosphoric acid etchant. The adhesive is then light cured to form the bonding layer. This separate etching step distinguishes the Fusion Bond 5 procedure from self etching formulations in the same product range.
Formulation
The adhesive contains methacrylate resin components and a light activated initiating system. It is supplied as a single component, with no separate dual cure activator required for the described light curing mechanism.
