The TrueFunction Adjustable Herbst appliance is a custom oral device intended to reduce snoring and mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea in adults. It fits over the upper and lower teeth and advances the lower jaw to increase the space behind the tongue for airflow during sleep.
The appliance uses polymer trays linked by an adjustable stainless steel mechanism. A key turns the screws to change the amount of lower jaw advancement. True Function Laboratory makes each appliance to the prescribing dentist’s instructions, and the prescribing clinician controls its adjustment.

Retention Designs
Available designs use dual laminate material, acrylic with clasps or acrylic without clasps. The designs without clasps require sufficient natural tooth undercuts for retention. Their retention cannot be increased during treatment, and they cannot be modified for new restorations or loss of posterior teeth.
