The Olympus FD-231 is a single-use hot biopsy forceps for collecting tissue, cauterization and hemostasis within urinary organs. It is used through a compatible Olympus endoscope and delivers high frequency electrical current to tissue at the forceps cups.
A slider on the handle opens and closes the fenestrated cups at the end of the insertion section. The cups grasp tissue for collection or contact tissue while closed for cauterization and hemostasis.
Electrosurgical Action
Current passes through tissue between the cups and a patient return electrode. Tissue resistance generates heat for the intended effect. The device combines mechanical grasping with electrosurgical energy and is intended for a single use.
