The Disposable Endoscopic Hemoclip places a clip through a straight or side viewing flexible endoscope in the adult gastrointestinal tract. Uses include endoscopic marking, hemostasis and supplementary closure of selected luminal perforations that can be managed conservatively.
A delivery assembly carries the clip to the lesion. A slider and pulling wire operate the clip, which can be opened and closed up to five times before deployment to allow repositioning. The clip then separates from its delivery system.
Treatment Limits
Hemostatic uses include mucosal or submucosal defects under 3 cm, bleeding ulcers, polyps under 1.5 cm, colonic diverticula, arteries under 2 mm and prophylactic clipping after lesion resection. Supplementary perforation closure is limited to defects under 20 mm. The device is supplied sterile for one use.
