The Macy Catheter provides rectal access for healthcare professionals to administer liquids or medications. Its flexible silicone body is retained in the distal rectum by a small water filled balloon and is intended for single use.
One lumen carries medication from a valved port into the rectum, while a second lumen connects an inflation valve to the retention balloon. Deflating the balloon permits catheter removal; the device can also be expelled during defecation.
