CompuFlo Epidural verifies an epidural needle tip’s placement in the lumbar epidural space in real time. It is intended for patients over 18 undergoing medically necessary epidural needle placement. After the healthcare provider verifies placement, the system is disconnected before the procedure continues.
The unit combines a motor-driven piston syringe pump, internal force sensor, syringe retainer, microprocessor and LCD display. An external in-line fluid-pressure sensor connects through disposable tubing and a 20 mL syringe. The display and optional pneumatic foot pedal control the verification workflow.
Power and Disposable Kit
The unit operates from mains power or an internal battery. Its single-use kit contains the external pressure sensor, syringe, tubing and an ID adaptor that restricts reuse. The epidural needle and solution are supplied separately.
