The ArtiSential Bipolar Maryland Dissector is used to grasp, dissect and coagulate tissue during laparoscopic and general surgical procedures. It connects to an electrosurgical generator, which supplies radiofrequency current to the bipolar electrode. Tissue resistance converts that current into heat for dissection and coagulation.
A control ring opens and closes the jaws. Moving the grip directs the tip up, down and sideways, with articulation of at least 80° in each direction. Rotating the grip turns the tip through 360°, allowing the working end to be positioned within the surgical field.
Supply and Construction
The instrument has a stainless steel electrode and an 8 mm shaft. It is supplied sterile after ethylene oxide sterilization and is intended for a single use.
