ADVIA Chemistry B2M reagents measure beta-2-microglobulin in human serum or lithium-heparin or potassium-EDTA plasma on the ADVIA 1650 system. The assay aids diagnosis of active rheumatoid arthritis and kidney disease. It is intended for in vitro diagnostic use.
The diluted sample reacts with latex particles coated with antibodies specific to beta-2-microglobulin. Antibody-antigen complexes increase turbidity, which is measured as light absorption at 545 nm. A standard curve from a reagent blank and single-level calibrator is used to calculate concentration.
