Gems Fertilisation Medium provides a culture environment for oocytes and sperm during in vitro fertilization. It can also be used for transferring zygotes to the uterus. The medium is used in hospital assisted reproduction procedures.
Its formulation combines salts, energy substrates, amino acids, buffers, nutrient supplements and antibiotics. For the Fertilisation formulation, the specified pH is 7.5 to 7.7 and osmolality is 295 to 305 mOsm/kg. These characteristics define the environment in which the reproductive cells are handled.
