The Orthofix Chimaera Hip Fracture System uses an intramedullary nail to align and stabilize fractures near the upper femur. The nail is placed inside the femur’s medullary canal and used with screws and an end cap.
The nail’s proximal end has a threaded bore for connection to a targeting handle through a cannulated bolt. Guidewires, awls, reamers and impactors form part of the instrumentation used to prepare the canal and insert the nail.
