Inion FreedomPin is a biodegradable pin for maintaining alignment and fixation of fractures, osteotomies, arthrodeses or bone grafts. It is used with additional immobilization, such as a cast, brace or rigid fixation implants.
The pins are made from L-lactic acid and D-lactic acid copolymers, coloured green to improve visibility during placement. They retain strength during healing, then gradually degrade by hydrolysis; resorption is described over two to four years.

The range includes pins from 1.5 to 3.2 mm in diameter and 30 to 70 mm long. Sterile kits contain two or three pins and single-use insertion instruments. The pins provide fixation during healing and are not designed for full load bearing.
