Registry build 21.09.26

Refobacin Bone Cement R anchors metal or plastic prosthetic components to living bone during revision arthroplasty. Its indicated use is the second stage of a two-stage revision after a joint infection has been cleared, including hip, knee and other joint reconstruction.

The fast-setting acrylic cement contains gentamicin and is supplied as powder and liquid components. Mixing them produces a paste for prosthesis fixation. Once hardened, the cement forms an interface that transfers stresses from movement between the prosthesis and bone.

Visibility at Placement

Zirconium dioxide in the powder provides X-ray contrast. Chlorophyll in the liquid acts as an optical marker, allowing the cement to be distinguished visually at the surgical site.

Recalls

1 of these is Class II. Class II means a temporary or reversible health consequence. Volume alone is not a quality signal: a manufacturer that ships more recalls more.
