NovaGuide 2 Intelligent Ultrasound measures and displays cerebral blood-flow velocity and transient embolic signals using transcranial Doppler ultrasound. It supports trained healthcare professionals during diagnostic examinations and surgical interventions as an adjunct to standard clinical practice. It does not replace other evaluation of vital physiological processes.
The cart-mounted system includes a computer, Doppler Robotics Unit, probe pods, a patient headmount and two reusable 2 MHz transducers. In robotic mode, actuators adjust the probes on either side of the head, using signal-search algorithms to help acquire blood-flow signals through the temporal acoustic windows.
Signal Display and Scope
Embolic events appear as high-intensity transient signals in the Doppler blood-flow display. The transducers also support manual operation. The system is intended for hospital or clinic use, excludes fetal applications and must remain outside the sterile field.
