Self-Fitting Air-Conduction Hearing Aid, Prescription

What Is It?

A self-fitting air-conduction hearing aid is a wearable sound amplifying device that is intended to compensate for impaired hearing and incorporates technology, including software, that allows users to program their hearing aids. This technology integrates user input with a self-fitting strategy and enables users to independently derive and customize their hearing aid fitting and settings. This is a prescription hearing aid.

How Is QDD Classified?

Self-Fitting Air-Conduction Hearing Aid, Prescription is FDA product code QDD, Class 2, 21 CFR 874.3325.

How Does It Reach the US Market?

A 510(k) premarket notification is required before it is sold in the United States: the applicant shows the device is substantially equivalent to one already on the market. No clearance under this code names a Chinese applicant. A registration is not a clearance: the plants above are set up to make it, and the 510(k) it is sold under is held by whoever files it, often the brand.
