MED-B is a manual needle system for bone marrow aspiration and biopsy from the posterior iliac crest. It obtains bone and marrow samples for histological examination using an outer cannula and inner stylet.
The needle has an ergonomic handle with a luer lock connection at its base. Patient-contacting metal parts are AISI 304 stainless steel, with a range of gauges and lengths to suit the procedure.

The system is supplied sterile following ethylene oxide sterilization and is intended for single use. MED-B’s biopsy site is the posterior iliac crest; other Medax aspiration needles have separate indications for sternal use.
