BIM semi-automatic biopsy needle is a sterile, single-use instrument for taking core samples of soft tissue, including breast, kidney, liver and prostate. A qualified physician inserts it through the skin under MRI guidance.
The device combines a handle, spring, cannula, stylet and trigger. The physician advances the stylet manually. Triggering the spring-driven cutting mechanism moves the cannula over the stylet’s sample notch to capture tissue.
Needle Construction
The needle components are made from Inconel 625 and nitinol, with an ABS handle. The BIM design offers two sample-notch settings, ten and eighteen millimetres.
