The Nova Surface Applicator guides a high-dose-rate brachytherapy source during cancer treatment on or near the skin. It is a patient-matched radiation therapy accessory that rests on the skin and provides a contact surface and catheter paths shaped for the individual treatment plan.
Patient imaging data is used to design the applicator and its catheter trajectories. The resulting design is manufactured by stereolithography using methacrylic resin. Tunnels within the applicator guide the source along the paths selected by the radiation therapy professionals.
